FAQ
Where and when did you guys start?
Pale blue dot started as a home project in Bangalore in 2025. We started as a studio in July 2026, after a 9 month long period of experimentation, designing and general faffing around.
Can I visit you guys?
Unfortunately, our studio isn’t tailored to receive people just yet. We do have popups every now and then where we display our products and have sales as well - look out for these on our instagram.
Why Pale Blue Dot?
One of our founders was tasked with coming up with names. Since we knew we wanted to launch with lamps, he started exploring derivatives of light in different languages. This first list of names was uniformly awful (Luxocity, anyone?). His second list contained names which were associated with things that produce or reflect light, including a list inspired by an abiding interest in astronomy. Pale blue dot was one of the names on that list - and is the name of the most distant photo taken of the earth, as titled by Carl Sagan, a celebrated astronomer. All our founders liked it, since it also had connotations of being eco friendly, which all of us aspire to be.
Products
How do I assemble my ______ ?
Most of our lamps require minimal assembly. A leaflet is included with the lamp, which you can refer to in order to set up your lamp. It contains a step-by-step how-to for assembly of your lamp. In case you cannot locate the leaflet, the detailed page for your lamp also contains the same guide.
What bulb goes into my ______ ?
The information for the specific bulbs is on the page of the respective product. Generally, we use E27 LED bulbs in all our lamps. These cycle through three colours - cool white, warm white and daylight white as you cycle the bulb on and off rapidly.
How do I clean my _____ ?
To start, please switch off and unplug the lamp. Then, use a slightly damp cloth to remove accumulated dust and dirt. For stubborn stains, you can use a bit of mild detergent on the cloth to clean the product too.

Materials and 3D printing
What materials do you use in your lamps?
All of our shades and bases are made using polylactic acid, or PLA, for short. PLA is a bioplastic - this means that it is made from biological materials as a feedstock. In our case, our PLA is made from agricultural refuse - mostly corn byproducts and sugarcane husk.
What 3D printers do you use?
We use a variety of 3D printers to make our lamps - Bambu, Kreality and a few others as well.
